How about any of a dozen other reasons why a company may catch fire and share price go up? Why is it always that shorts dictate price of a stock? Sounds like you got burnt pretty badly and that is now dominating your thinking but if I let all the other ways I have been burnt pretty badly, I would not be investing in stocks.

Morning traders made their 15% and sold. Standard stuff. Trending stocks are volatile all day long as people sell and buy back in repeatedly.
