Tekna looks like a direct Plasma Powder competitor

This is not a sky is falling post.

You can only buy Tekna on the Euronext (Norway) They literally just listed March 3rd.

I beleive there is plenty of room for competition. It is odd that we've not heard of this company as of yet based upon they having the identical technology so it would seem?

(QUEBEC, CANADA), June 28th, 2018 – Tekna Plasma Systems Inc., a leading provider of metal powder solutions, has unveiled its plans to expand its global manufacturing output and boost its innovation capability. These investments reflect the company’s long-term commitment to the 3D printing and microelectronics markets.

Investment Outline – Scaled-Up Capacity

TEKNA’s project will help the company increase its global metal powder manufacturing capacity to over 1000 tons per year, in line with the growing demand of its active customer base. A first expansion phase in Canada and in France is set to be running full scale by Q3 2018 and will provide Tekna with an extra annual capacity of 250 tons.

If I could buy their stock I would.. and hold Pyro as well as this market is about to explode with exponential growth. |

I'd be curious to get a look at Tekna's actual hardware process.

In any event, I have zero concerns but... at least in 2018.. they were setting themselves up to be and THEY claim to be world leader in Plasma Powders.. So.. there is no time like the present to powder up Pete.. lol

They're interesting.  They talk about nano silicon as well BUT when you listen to Bernard talk, he makes specific reference to be the only producer in the world can create it inexpensively.    They must know of each other and HPQ / PYR have the high ground.

The Tekna site has its primary focus on metal print powders. Under batteries they do mention silica powder but their presentation is weak..   they are undoutably a competitor in silica but apear to be a step behind HPQ. They do not appear to be a torch competitors in major industrical applications.

Yes Chris, Tekna has gone fishing in the battery pond and they have had  a few bites but none to report and they would not report here since they are owned by a big Norvegian outfit, I( believe.

Chris I agree with that assessment, especially with the HPQ. They claim to have sub 80 nano meters powder.. They SEEEEM to have a wider global presence and especially in China.

You have to be careful when it is in the form of nanoparticles...   Sometimes, the characteristic properties of each metal change when reduced to nanoparticles

That was mynslopiness in throwing out names. They are working with high purety SN

If I remember correctly, the last showing Q&A poster mentioned that there are two other competitors in this industry, one that he finds respectable and capable of doing what they say, and the other he couldn't say anything nice about..... At least I think it was in powders..... Cheers!

Thanks to all for contributing to this. I brought it up out of curiosity as I was not aware anyone else in the world was doing this. Wish I had more coinage to buy more Pyro at the moment and I would have dabbled in this company if it traded on any exchange. I think there is plenty of room for many companies such as this if we believe there is about to be a transformative shift from fossil fuels ...more

Quick follow-up on this... There are indeed several companies around the world that use plasma to make metal powders. The demand is expected to be so great that a multitude of suppliers will be needed. For various reasons, these suppliers differ in the extent of their competitiveness. The key difference is in technology and feedstock, but also includes volume potential and price potential ...more

MidTown, most excellent addition to that conversation. I believe the technicals as you point out, are paramount. My opinion only, but the efficiencies as you point out in Pyro vs a Tekna type company might be a piece of due diligence Ark investment group would have picked up on with this burgeoning industry in choosing a company with all the right mechanics leading to the best economics to be the ...more
