Algoma Steel does not recycle scrap metal

So, Algoma has no use for the electric arc furnaces that the pumpers are touting on this board. Those furnaces, with their 8 torches, are used in the recycling of steel scrap.
Algoma is a steelmaker. That's a company that receives pelletized ore and smelts it, producing steel from raw. The machines and processes used in that industry are entirely different.

Please explain how do you melt the pallets to make steel? You need a or multiple furnce to melt the pallets to make steel and melt the scrap metals.  My understanding you combine the melted pallets and melted scrap metals to make steel.  Can somebody from Steel Industires confirm or explain the process to make steel. Algoma Steel is likely sticking with proven electric arc furnaces to melt scrap metal not some new technology in the form of plasma torches. The 70 % figure often touted is relative to steel making via coking. I'll never say never but the steel industry already has good technology at its disposal to reduce ghgs if it so chooses. You need to better inform yourself of reality. 70% is a number that reflects the reduction in ghg IF Algoma Steel converted its standard coke based blast furnace to an electric arc furnace on a ton for ton basis.
