Sweden Green Steel - LKAB Report

The operating costs for a typical 2 MW fuel oil burner have been compared with a 2
MW air plasma torch by Pyrogenesis [33]. As can be seen in the table 2.1 below, there
is a significant potential for reduction of operating costs. A cost reduction of around
23% is achieved in this example. Cost reductions become even higher when considering
applications such as iron ore pelletization, cement kilns and metallic ore roasters since
these type of plants can have a large number of burners.

Table 2.1: Annual operating costs for a 2 MW fuel oil burner and air plasma torch.
Costs Fuel oil burner Plasma torch
Fuel oil cost ($ 0.5/l) $ 923 000 $ 0
Electricity cost ($ 0.03/kWh) $ 9000 $ 600 000
Replacement parts cost $ 0 $ 38 000
Total cost $ 932 000 $ 638 000
Replacing fossil fuels with electricity represents a great potential to reduce greenhouse gas

Using your figures I calculate a 31.5% savings.with a plasma torch.

You have to include the CO2 taxes...and now call the president and ask him for his president cellar continues to pollute the planet and destroy the animal species

ired to see the accumulation of CO2 in the atmosphere (for 30 years) and to see the inactions and the non responsibility while some places in the world become more and more unlivable !!!!   Here in the north, we are in the second week of January with rain .... - what is normal ???? In my lifetime I see the changes and for the last 5 years it's been at the speed of light   ...more

Soon, Stock Exchanges will require companies to report their emissions of GHG and CO2 in their annual and quarterly reports. Thus investors will know the level of pollution for which each company has responded. Companies that neglect to invest a part of their profit into existing solutions like Pyro’s offerings risk being punished by investors. When these statistics about pollution become known ...more

You must be young. If you had seen the smog in LA 30 years ago before the Clean Air Act you would not believe it now.

No, I'm not young (+50 years old) .... Indeed, a law has caused a big change... But now with CO2 it's not the same problem because it is cumulative and is not eliminated as quickly in the air (affects the whole planet) as other pollutants and its effects are even more destructive!

MORE....simple observation ... Look at a street lamp ... when I was between 30 and 40 there were moths and other insects and now nothing .... no life .... even wildflowers same observation 80% less insects.   We are talking about a destructive element of life and fauna, it is not simply a light pollution! This is why the planet is dying and species are disappearing (including wildlife ...more

Distance to the sun, wobble of the moon, shifting of the magnetic poles. The science is a lie to the level of what man's effect on the planet is.  Grant Money and politics ar driving that manipulation train. It doesn't mean we shouldn't be responsible to the environment we live in. Just do it in a responsible and intelligent way devoid of emotion.  Emotive hand ...more
