Ti6Al4V titanium alloy was used in this study because (1) it has good X-ray transparency, (2) it is the most commonly used titanium alloy [26], and (3) it is of particular interest to the aerospace, biomedical, and defense industry since it is suitable for a wide range of applications due to its high-strength and low-density [1]. The Ti6Al4V powders for testing were purchased from Pyrogenesis Canada Inc. (Montreal, QC, Canada). The Ti6Al4V metal substrate was purchased from McMaster (Elmhurst, IL, USA).
