Pellet Production

Please show where they indicate torches won't be used in pellet production in Sweden.

Hey maybe I am wrong.. lets play find the plasma ..till then here is some little tidbits.. They are using Hydrogen ...but dont listen to me , listen to them.. "“The fact that this technology is now working is great news, and is an important milestone in the development of a fossil-free value chain for ore-based iron and steel production. The use of large-scale hydrogen storage means that the ...more

Well there Sorrenson I think you need to read and understand what is written...you seem to have blinders on most of the time and only see half the picture. What i see here they are going to use hydrogen for electricity when the weather to bad to produce other green electicity sources  to power the plasma torches....What you say now Zaphod???
Comment by raphaelle2 on Oct 17, 2022 5:26pm
Hey Beachbum...relax on the cocktail...the idea is to use hydrogen directly instead of natural gas in convential burners ( no extra cost) Or did I miss understond your suggestion? To Use electricity to make hydrogen...then burn this hydrogen to generate electricity...to power the plasma torch? Fuxk the plasma torch altogether and burn the hydrogen direct in a simple burner! This is the only way to ...more

Hey Raphael easy on the cocktails. H2 has an explosive range of 4%-74% in air,  Compared to 5%-15% on natural gas. Clearly you've  never been around or worked with hydrogen. Endless amounts of policies and procedures involved. It's has to be stored in its liquid form to get any serious volume. They aren't gonna pipe hydrogen 24 hrs a day to multiple burners. Far to dangerous. ...more

Many Tks Wiston for this advice. I will forward this to RioTinto and Vale and the Qc government and Arcelor Mittal......What about Boeing?....LOL Too bad you dont have access to the internets.. I told you several times...A little knowledge is a dangerous thing...GLTA others!!.

There's a real world out here. Don't believe everything you read on the internet
Comment by raphaelle2 on Oct 17, 2022 9:59pm
You got a point Winston...but internet not as bad as anonymous Public Board!Do yr serious DD. GLTA.
Comment by beachbuminMexic on Oct 17, 2022 9:11pm
That is exactly what I am saying. Using the excess green electriciy produced when the windturbines and solar are producing more than they need, they can use that to produce hydrogen to produce electricity when the weather is not cooperating. The hydrogen is just stored electricity when needed....Duh
Comment by raphaelle2 on Oct 17, 2022 9:47pm
Absolutely NO! I see that you dont understand the new DRI process...
Comment by beachbuminMexic on Oct 17, 2022 10:17pm
Ok now you are starting to piss me off. The DRI process is after the pellets have been made. What is DRI in manufacturing? "); display: inline-block; height: 24px; width: 24px; margin-top: -1px; transform: rotateZ(-180deg);">        ...more
Comment by raphaelle2 on Oct 17, 2022 11:02pm
And you are also getting on my nerve ...for forcing me to repeat the same story over and over. LAST TIME: The DRI rely on either blue or green hydrogen instead of C. In large quantity, stored as liquid. Heating pelletisation furnace with H2 instead of CH4 methane will become just routine.( forget the naysayers panicking about H2.) ALSTOM H2 trains are already running in France and Germany. Large ...more

Ok. Don't freak out raph. Serious question here. Play nice and correct me if I'm wrong. Iron ore pellets are generally produced in remote areas ,correct? Generally not by any major city centres. The idea behind iron ore pelletization is to reduce volume so it can be shipped to steel making plants which are generally located near populated areas? The DRI which is at the steel making plant ...more

Great! This is exactly how Rio Tinto is also getting ready to proceed in Sorel. (See their last PR with Qc gov ). The large hydrogen reservoir produced from green electricity ( wing/ solar) allows to run continuous process like for iron ore pelletisation/ reduction furnace, which would not be possible if you use direct electric coupling for heating with plasma or even electric arc furnace.
