Carbon tax

The combustion, in the burners, of natural gas, heavy oil and/or pulverized coal results, unfortunately, in the production of very important amounts of CO2. For example, a typical pellet plant producing annually 10 million metric tonnes of pellets emits about one million metric tonnes of CO2; therefore, the total world pellet production of 400 million metric tonnes of pellets corresponds to the production of about 40 million metric tonnes of COper year.
Once the very hot combustion gases have gone through the bed of pellets being fired, they are used to preheat and dry the green oncoming pellets before being released to the atmosphere. The released gas temperature being about 350° C., the process energy efficiency would be of only about 80%.
Furthermore, the combustion gases, which are used to dry the ore pellets, are, in addition to CO2, composed of water vapour which is not an optimal composition as a drying gas.

1,000,000 tonnes of CO2 released annually per induration furnace. That's pretty significant.

1000000 x $50 = $50,000,000 Carbon tax annually

its only gonna get worse for them. Wait till it's $100 per tonne CO2 carbon tax

Well you better tell Vale... Oh yeah  BIOOIL..zero carbon ...better go tell Sweden  You can cry all you want . Vale has chosen natural gas ..I am sorry it makes you so sad but that is reality. Many thanks for your posts Winston123 and for your information/insight into conventional diesel burners versus PyroGenesis' plasma torches.  Winston123 has some great posts, it's worth going through his posts.   Keep in mind that PyroGenesis' plasma torches for iron ore pelletizing is just one division/business line of PYR.  There are also torches for steel ...more

Bcont, I am not trying to be picky or overly critical ( its prob due to my scientific formation) but I cannot let misinformations go, especially when the message is adressed to Winston. There are no market/ applications for plasma torches in steel and cement industries. Sorry. GLTA.

An informative post by Winston123 regarding carbon tax as it applies to iron ore pelletizing corporations. Keep in mind regarding PyroGenesis' plasma torches: Plasma torches, by contrast, utilize renewable electricity and offer an environmentally attractive alternative to fossil fuel burners. As previously disclosed, PyroGenesis has the process patent to replace fossil fuel burners ...more

Thanks for posting Winston123 comments.  Really demonstrates PYR torches will pay for itself in few short years. Vale and RIo plus others must be very excited about PYR's torch offerings:    1,000,000 tonnes of CO2 released annually per induration furnace. That's pretty significant. 1000000 x $50 = $50,000,000 Carbon tax annually  its only gonna get worse for ...more
