@cusam Interesting article regarding decarbonisation of Rio Tinto alumina refineries https://www.linkedin.com/posts/rio-tinto_briefing-paper-decarbonising-our-aust-alumina-activity-7092276222805606400-kbK-?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop Some interesting points, although its for aluminum, I am assuming the same can be applied for iron ore industry “Rio Tinto’s preferred decarbonisation strategy, based on technical merit and commercial viability, is electrification. This will require large-scale and capital-intensive transformation of electricity generation and transmission infrastructure to provide renewable power to the refineries” “It is also important to consider the investment required and the time that any alternative fuel sources will be used, as these are a transitionary pathway and not a long-term decarbonisation option.”
