@pennytodollar Whether you believe it or not, a Rio Tinto summer student (purportedly) indicated they were doing the SAT / trial in a furnace scheduled for a refit and it broke down unrelated to the torches. Had to be repaired and was the main cause of SAT delay until recently. This might also explain how the torches went from reportedly installed in a furnace to not installed (which was confusing for the board when another person with a purported Rio contact said they were in already). Things like this would also explain why timelines given by the client to Peter were missed by a wide margin. Take all of the above with as many grains of salt as you require - none of this has been verified beyond hearsay.

How many torches did they install on that furnace ? I think we are aiming a partial replacement of oil burners which i don t mind  but i figure you need at least  10 torches to man a furmance . So what is rio or pyr talking about doing really . sat ?

They had done a lot of computer modelling on how torches would work. We are all assuming they would be a one for one replacement. But could they be more efficient in how they work? Or from their simulations they worked on updating where torches are positioned to be more efficient. Be interesting to know what the recommended spec were from the simulations.
