What is management doing?
This news was announced yesterday.
Repeating news the day before earnings won't be received well by the market.
"News" the day before earnings is a No-No.
It smacks of desperation.

HPQ sent out the news yesterday. PYR released it today with added information. Information that hints to people they fully intend to still be operational in 2024 despite the fears some here have been spreading about the company dying shortly. Separately, the Company announces that production of the fumed silica pilot plant is underway, which is intended to be in operation in Q2 of 2024.

I see your point Paul, but I think your case is tenuous. This "news" is basically yesterday's news re-worded, and it's unusual the day before earnings to see something like this. It looks like a blatant effort by management to saturate the market with a positive development right before bad news, and personally I think it will backfire.

How many days before earnings would it be acceptable to the stock market world to issue a NR?

In the US, the SEC imposes a "quiet period" for 10 days before an earnings release. In Canada it's a tacit rule never enforced. At least that's how it used to be back when the Earth was still cooling.

Don't be sorry, I was asking too because another scenario is what if you do have a good news but you don't release it, and your client does PR it, and then the media? Would a comany be in trouble if they didn't inform their shareholders in time because they had to wait let's say 5 more days before earnings call.
