TFSA limit of $7,000 for 2024. PYR and HPQ!!!

Bodes well for 2024. We should see the fruition of PYR's and HPQ's hard work this year. Expect contracts in the coming months. Still time to fill your TFSA before the stock explodes to all time high once again. Bashers will of course do their job for that is what they are paid to do.

If the TFSA is the equivalent of a US Roth IRA as it appears, I would highly advise against investing TFSA funds into Pyro.
Comment by HARJAY on Jan 12, 2024 9:30pm
Side Not quite the same and if you invested into PYR in a taxable acct. or rrsp why wouldn't you invest in a TFSA when the gains  would be tax Free while in  taxable acct you would be subject to capital gains tax and lose 25% of any gains you might make. Also in a TFSA you dont havve to be 59 yrs old or wait 5 yrs. A Roth IRA is an Individual Retirement Account to which you ...more

Hi Harjay, Im bullish on Pyro and coming at this from a US retirement and tax perspective; caveat being this is not financial advice and everyone has unique needs and generally accepted investment principles may not apply. Tax-free accounts are widely considered the most important assets for retirement as they grow tax free, enable tax rate manipulation in retirement, aren't impacted by ...more

I bought PYR in my TFSA a few years ago.  My massive losses are sheltered.   The clear sign that you should not be paying attention to a poster is when they give such precise advice.
Comment by HARJAY on Jan 13, 2024 9:57am
Side Appreciate your thought process on the issue. the one question i have is why does you guy think that if PYR a big winner and you have it in a taxbale acct. you would be taxed less in retirement. as compared to having PYR in a non taxable acct. and those gains would not be subject to any taxes. I am gathering that in the U.S. there is no such tax free vehicle as a TFSA as there is in Cda ...more

In a canadian TFSA.To make it simple if you believe that PYR will be more than a ten bagger in the future and you put it in a taxable account you will pay a lot of taxes. In a TFSA there are no taxes when you sell.

Think Thank you i lnow that im trying to clarify the diff between a U.S. roth which i gather is like a RRSP and what the tax diff are . As with an RRSP on retirement you are required to take ea. yr.  out a certain  % of the value of the roth for retirement funds and what you saying is the growth in tht roth remains free from the appplicable taxes on the particular equity   etc ...more

The TFSA and Roth look very similar. The issue with your comment advising the purchase of Pyro in tax free accounts is it drastically understates the risk of Pyro and the impact of lost tax-free investments. Investment in any single company is risky, and examples  like Lucent show how quickly juggernauts may fall. Pyro is not even established yet.   Pyro has incredible potential but ...more

What you're saying is true Thinkbig, but you also need to value the risk of investing in Pyro instead of the entire market. Most retail investors, including me, lack the education to accurately conduct this analysis. The key is understanding what we do and do not know, and leveraging experts to fill that gap.

Every investment is a gamble. The so called experts giving their analisis of the market are no different than the weatherman giving a forecast. A lot of the stock market coverage is a lot like sports easy to report on how the market reacted, but harder to predict what tomorrow will bring. Get as much info you can find listen to the experts with caution and follow your gut. Stocks like PYR and HPQ ...more

That's why holding well diversified index and mutual funds for long periods of time is the best low-effort strategy for success.

What are the yearly $$  fees for your indexed funds and basket of junk ?....I'm surprised that someone who really believes this junk would have found this gem Pyrogenesis and HPQ maybe ?..I don't think so , this investment was de-risked long ago...in spite of chicken Littles like you...The rest of us know the investment of their lives is right here....2024 will put naysayers like you ...more

Holding your junk  long term,  is a loser strategy...What happens when your paper fait currency is worthless  ??...How about holding gold & silver ?...or a growth stock  ?...maybe crypto currency ??...your investing advice is useless ,  unless you're a broker who makes his living ( fees) from selling junk mutual & indexed funds...Fait currency is on the brink ...more

"Holding your junk long term, is a loser strategy...What happens when your paper fait currency is worthless ??" I'm guessing you meant fiat currency, not "fait currency". You're right about holding junk long term being a losing strategy though. So what are you doing holding this?

There are fiduciaries who host Youtube channels that explore much of what you state using sourced, data-driven analysis. If you're already rich don't bother, but if your goal is to build wealth then they're worth a try to challenge your assumptions. The Money Guy is a great one to check out.

Fees for popular index funds like VTSAX and VFIAX are around .04%. Investment in index funds does not mean you cannot invest in companies like Pyro, but if folks want to maximize their odds of building wealth then there are right and wrong ways to do so, adjusted to individual needs.
Comment by Uncleron on Jan 15, 2024 3:00pm
What a load of shorter garbage...You need " experts " for advice yet you come here and push your " long term basket of junk mutuals & index funds " ...If you don't hold-it you don't  own-it !!...The fait currency can evaporate in a heartbeat and there goes your wealth...nothing you can do about-it !!...bah bah bye bye ...Anyone who listens to your nonsense will ...more

To make it simple, you make a sound investment in your TFSA just like you would in any other account. PYR is a gamble at this point.  You can gamble in your TFSA if you wish as well. Don't listen to some guy that has over 5,000 posts on one stock yet rarely engages into a thoughtful discussion about the company....that has not delivered upon expectations, that has a weak balance ...more

You are encouraging Canadians to load up their TFSA with PYR stock. And as much as you like to tell investors that November and December is the season for “capital tax-loss ” and reasoning for the sell out and decline in the SP, You should tell Canadian investors that you cannot claim “capital tax-loss” on a Tax Free Saving Account. And we all know what happened with the stock price for the past ...more
