Very promising for PYR

@ToolmanTim @pennytodollar @I_M_Volatile I agree the use of the phrase "following the EAF process" means "after" and this opens up many secondary process applications. “following EAF”... plasma torches might be used to further refine or treat the molten steel.

It could provide precision heating, alloying, or be used to remove impurities to achieve specific steel properties. There is also secondary processing... plasma torches could be used in "next steps" such as... ladle refining to maintain temperatures, remove inclusions, or add alloys.

I believe we have already heard from PPP about "tundish heating"... the tundish is the last vessel that molten metal is in before solidifying in the continuous casting mold, and plasma torches could provide precise heating to maintain temperature and control steel flow during continuous casting. Reheating for rolling or forging could use plasma torches to reheat steel slabs or billets for further processing. Lastly... in casting operations... plasma torches could be used to improve casting processes by protecting the molten steel from air contamination, and by providing better steel flow and mold filling which would reduce defects or inclusions. The potential for dozens of torches exists here… at a single plant Sources: Application of plasma arc melting technology to processing of reactive metals https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1179/imr.1991.36.1.221 Plasma technology in metallurgical processing https://www.osti.gov/etdeweb/biblio/394378 Influence of Plasma Heating on the Metallurgical Effects of a Continuous Casting tundishhttps://www.mdpi.com/2075-4701/10/11/1438 A pilot-scale test of plasma torch application for decarbonizing the steel reheating furnaces https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2451904923001191

The world needs clean steel.  I was a member of the Alberta Safety codes council ( pressure vessel division)4yrs ago.  There was some serious concerns about SA105 flanges that were failing during the hydro pressure testing... the flanges steel were traced back to China  I think PYR and their process will be getting more and more attention as time goes on.. Good Luck to each and ...more
