Knowing that any kind of sustained or even momentary buying will push SP higher and higher, our competitors, being fund managers, engage in creative trading which can be as simple as putting up a wall and boring the longs to death. When the ask is stacked +10:1 to the bid and the bid sells into the ask that's the work of pros. Nothing trumps supply and demand except trading trickery. When the pillar of economic theory being the laws of supply and demand are thwarted that's the pro's at work. The thing is though if it's worth putting in all that time and money into suppressing sp then you have to know the upside is very very good.

This is a very good point and I too believe this is exactly what is going on.  You can see a consistent pattern over past week or so where a large ask order is put in place (over 100,000 shares) early in the day at a specific price level such as $2.45 or $2.50 and always a few pennies above current market.   This looks like a big player trying to suppress or establish a ceiling on
