Quarterhill Inc > What are you expecting?
View:
Post by Pat123 on Mar 15, 2021 3:11pm

What are you expecting?

  • Company is managed by poor managers. And Skippy is still on the board (what will it takes to kick him out)
  • Creating shareholder value has never been a priority.
  • They were even trying to take advantage of small investors. (Remember the Dutch auction)
  • Look at what they've acquired over the last 5 years to diversify there revenues. They don't have the skills to make accretive acquisitions.
  • Most us are staying in the stock because of the Apple potential settlements. It's been years and years waiting for that pathetic $1 gain.
  • I sold 2/3 of my position last Friday. Good move Titiallin on your exit too. It's always more difficult to sell than to buy.
  • I'm expecting, management to manipulate Q1 results as well in order to buy back stock before the Apple settlement around year end.

Gook Luck

This is not new information and already known and why the company is already trading at book value.   Next qtr results will be good and these b*stards will have filled their pockets with more RSUs and options by then. At 2.50 and a 2% dividend and a potential 4 bagger as per Cormark is big potential upside. CIBC has a downside case of $2.00 which is that the Apple victory is reversed to 0 ...more

I agree with a few things you said Part123.  However, I don't believe they are poor managers and I defintely don't believe they will drive down the share price to buy more shares....because they never buy shares. I too was considering selling a good chunk after the earnings (haven't pulled the trigger yet).  The reason is because I don't trust that they can use the cash ...more

Interesting takes Board. What I scratch my head about is the fact most/ALL markets are flying high with an abundance of overpriced stocks with no cash, questionable futures and even little to no earnings. Yet poor ole QTRH is ALWAYS being subjected to such strict price evaluation and metrics. Almost to the point of splitting hairs it seems.  I can name a TSX stock right now with basically ...more

Quarterhill is a "special situation" value stock that is 90% owned by retail.  With the high retail ownership that is mostly underwater it has a fee features: (1) overhead resistance is important to understand.  People achieve their breakeven and sell.  That is why the $3 level was so important to test and hopefully retest and breakthrough.  That is a very significant ...more

Hi Chi, They have bought million of shares last summer from the Dutch auction and the buyback program. Suddenly, in November they stopped. The message is clear they want to buy it cheap. Don't you remember when they tried to screw investor with a 2.15 Dutch auction when they knew they were in the process of selling Viziya. The good thing was that most people didn't surrender their shares. ...more

Timing mixed up. It what the 109M judgement that was announced 17 days after the proposed Dutch auction. Sorry for the confusion.

Hi Pat. I guess it depends on how you define "manager".  I was referring to the management within WiLan and the management within IRD - both of which seem to be doing fine.  I agree the 'management' of the corporation as a whole has been scattered at best and is my main bone of contention.  I don't like their corporate direction and never have ever since they ...more

It's sad to see no insider buying. In addition, the stock ownership by top management is marginal. They don't have their own money involved in the company performance and it shows.

I asked management about the NCIB.  The answer was that funds were earmarked for acquisitions.
Comment by whaler83 on Mar 16, 2021 4:48pm
So why initiate the SIB and NCIB in the first place. Stick to a direction already.
Comment by Whitey2u on Mar 16, 2021 6:42pm
That should restart the NCIB and can make the acquisitions cash and shares. l
