German legislature just voted to amend patent injunction statute -- jurisdiction as attractive as ever to patent holders bringing infringement lawsuits

At last quarter conference call, Mr Hill mentioned a suit launched in Germany against Apple. Does anyone on board know basis of lawsuit and can anyone obtain details of law suit in courts as. this should be public knowledge?

Astutein, Paul Hill made this comment on the Q4 confeerence call: "In January WiLAN initiated litigation in Germany against Apple with respect to three patents related to memory, interface and technology."   According to SpicyP's post on the German courts, they can move pretty fast...as soon as 6 months to an injunction according to Fosspatents. Hope this helps.

Thanks greatly  cabbie-It is possible we may have two Apple decisions in the courts by late 2021. In Germany , patents are enforced in the courts rather than patent offices. Court action is not jury but by Regional Court consisting of three judges experienced in patent matters,, so appeal to their Federal Court consisting of three judges is very difficult to get decision overturned

v-guerriero-  We may be closer to decision against Apple in Germany than case in CAFC in US. Cabbie from Mr. Hill that stated Wilan in January initiated action against Apple related to three patents related to memory and interface. Any action against Apple using our patents will be substantial  one and enforceable by injunction in Germany. Patent cases are not by jury who may have

It's possible that a favorable verdict v. Apple in Germany, coupled with an injuntion, can lead to a settlement in the USA action - just as happened with Nvidia.  The fact that in Germany Wilan is pressing different patents matters little if Apple is precluded from selling iPhones there.
