AI-Enabled CVSA Decal Reader
"This is a very exciting moment for our industry," commented Rish Malhotra, IRD's President and CEO. "AI-specific processing units coupled with powerful industrial computers are enabling deep neural network and machine vision-based transportation system applications that are creating opportunities for agencies to achieve their road safety goals in a cost-effective manner while enhancing transportation efficiency. .."
Great work done. IRD needs more AI, data analysis applications for fast growth..

What. Joke. It's a bar code reader, hardly Artificial Intelligence. How dumb to these overpaid clowns think people are. Go to your local grocery store. They have been reading bar codes for decades. Chr is t, no wonder the rock is going nowhere slowly.

The reader is one thing, what they do with the data afterwards is another. I don't think they are praising the reader.

Here is a picture of a CVSA decal. There is no OCR abilities required here. Simply reads the bar code. The software behind the reader does it's thing, whatever you program it to do. But insofar as the in motion reader, it is nothing more than a souped up bar code reader. Enlighten yourself.

lol. And Starship SN15 is nothing a souped up Grain Silo... your ignorance is appalling. Just because the new feed(s) you read dumb the science down for you to be able to digest the complexities, it doesn't mean you are now an expert... I don't need enlightenment, this is a philosophical debate, it's science you clearly don't understand...

Guess that's why the sp is doing so well following this exciting news. Or perhaps IRD management never saw a bar code reader before so got all excited about it. Saskatchewan is a lonely place.

Here's the link to CVSA website which covers criteria for obtaining a decal, the meaning of the decals, placement of the decals on different vechilces, along with rules for determining when a colour coded decal with a number is expired, etc. The software envolved in an application like this goes belong just being a bar code reader. https://www.cvsa.org/inspections/about-inspection-decals/

I just hope they did'nt spend a ton of cash on research and dev on this. I sure hope they bought from an of the shelf vendor. And then paid a programmer to write code to bring all of the relevant data needed. Will be watching financials to see how much this cost to implement. BTW it is nor a barcode reader is is a Vision system. GL Russ
