Just ask yourself five very simple questions

1.  If this was a huge deal, why would the chair and vice chair Gillberry and Skippen walk the plank along with two other Directors?

2. Apple is an adversary of WiLan and Samsung.  Do you think Apple would let WiLan pre announce Q1 revenue or allow a large license deal to show up in an isolated way, which can then be used as ammo by other NPEs to determine how much Apple is willing to pay?

3.  Isn't it more convenient for the settlement to be embedded into the sale price for WiLan as one will know how much Apple signed for?

4. What happens tomorrow when there is no pre-announcement and people realize that this payment could come later in the year and it just increase the focus on the WiLan sale process?

5.  Didn't analysts just cut the ITS business to 1.30-1.50 net of debt yesterday... so now WiLan is worth over $1 per share?  Buy at todays levels means you are assuring that WiLan gets at least $150 million net of fees and taxes.  It is fully priced at 2.40

Today is a GREAT day for suffering longs, but there is no "all clear" signal from todays news.
