Thanks for the article. Here it is ANOTHER case for my point! ACCUMULATE NOW! Why Quarterhill can rebound in the months ahead Quarterhill (TSX:QTRH) is the fourth and final TSX tech stock I’d bet on to rebound in the quarters to come. This Toronto-based company operates in the intelligent transportation system and intellectual property licensing industries around the world. Its shares ...more

The most important thing in that article is the 2.8% yield.  That is insufficient vs. a 4.5% 1 yr GIC and many investment grade bonds in Canada yielding 7% now. And the cash flow doesn't even support the current dividend.  And with more than 500 employees that will be getting 4-6 % raises this year and a 10-15% vacancy rate that will push overall employee compensation in to 6-9% ...more

This describes most every company in Canada heading into 2023.   Weegee says, That is insufficient vs. a 4.5% 1 yr GIC and many investment grade bonds in Canada yielding 7% now. And with more than 500 employees that will be getting 4-6 % raises this year and a 10-15% vacancy rate that will push overall employee compensation in to 6-9% cash flow will be even worse. Cabbie, The last quarter and into next they won't be producing cash.  They will be draining it.  They have to turn around the business to have the cash flow to continue the dividend without drawing from savings.   And you can see in the financial statements (md&a) that they have $100 Million of payments to make to external parties by 2025. There is also the debenture ...more

weegee says, The business has to produce cash or they can't run the company or pay the financing obligations. What a financial wizard.  Q2 was explained.  I choose to believe it.  Covering analysts choose to believe it.  #toddknows, #stevenknows, #nicholasknows, #cormarkknows. Even your riend #toddknows was unchanged.

And how wrong have analysts been.  Analysts are afraid of pivoting the way that Cannacord did.   Doug is the most accurate analyst and should be read word for word. Todd at the very least lays out a downside case and gives a $1.10 valuation if you deem the WiLan business as worthless.  It is.  There are 26 employees (8 senior executives) that manage the relationship with ...more

Ther are two distinct projects: manage the existing IP licensing business as a going concern (this contrasts sharply with BB who basically closed down its licensing unit while conducting its strategic review) conduct a strategic review of Wilan. Wilan is business as usual with staff that manages the Farnan Bros. and the chaff, as you call it.  Historically, that chaff has ...more
