Disaster?

What is happening to Quarterhill?  Almost at its 52 week low again.  The small caps are all struggling but the weakness in QTRH is misplaced.  Has to be.  RIght?

Market is correctly pricing in the cash flow impact of another adverse judgment.  Vizio, Sharp and now Valve are going to be owed legal cost and fees for bringing forward a nuisance lawsuit without merit.  It also highlights the risk of losing the Alexa case with Amazon and how much they will be eventually be owed. Suing with "chaff" is a low return business and you are ...more

Informative post as usual Mr VG. Perhaps some including me are in denial. Also, a big day for the POG.

The final three words of the Treehouse / Valve decision: Costs No costs. ======== It is quite something to behold the current negativity in the market toward Quarterhill. My recollection is that on the day the company announced the Micron settlement the stock didn't go up at all. Maybe down a penny? But the news of this (Treehouse / Valve), what I'd think must be a relatively minor ...more

Mrmoribund, linking yesterday's volume and price movement to Treehouse is a huge stretch imo. The market isn't negative to QTRH per se. QTRH hasn't given it any reason to take notice. Treehouse was a non event. I agree that results will speak loudest, but investor relations should not be ignored either.  Eventually QTRH will need to cultivate USA investors...because, that's ...more

Eventually? They've cultivated investors plenty already. Remember Sidoti in 2021? How much did the company pay for that? And how much of that is in the stock price today? Answer: nothing. The attendees forgot all about Quarterhill long ago. Take a look at Supremex. It traded at a lower price than Quarterhill not long ago. Today it's at $5.55. It has a grand total of one analyst who ...more

Mrmoribund, the investor relations strategy is NOT to court institutional investors but to get in front of high net worth individuals and, I believe, other investors that do not require reporting.  USA eyeballs will be an essential audience. I'm going to connect this thread to the fact that the share price closed +$.05. Enjoy the weekend. ;)

The high net worth people, US or otherwise, don't need to be gotten in front of. Without good results they won't give a hoot. Give them good results and they'll find the story by themselves very quickly. People know about Quarterhill. They don't need to be taught. What they do need is the results that will inspire them to read up a little further on the subject. ========== The ...more

Yes Mr M. I originaly bought SXP years ago for the dividend but the company rightfully lost visibilty at the onslaught of Covid and suspended it. Of course the shares were crushed. I contrarily bought more all the way up to $3.25. Even at $5.50 it is a screaming buy with only 12M shares. No analysts required. Who needs them for any company actually. Their job is suggest companies to consider for ...more
