IRD/AI-assisted traffic counting & REKOR

I found this interesting post just now on the REKOR chat on Yahoo.

So I've been doing a little DD. The same kind (as Rekor's) of AI assisted, FHWA-13, traffic counting system was introduced in mid-2020 by IRD (formerly International Road Dynamics), a subsidiary of Quarterhill.

Do a search for "IRD iTHEIA." In the search results look also for a related article in ITS International.

I see no indication from Rekor that their system can do anything IRD's 2+ year-old system can't. Note also that IRD can combine this with abilities that Rekor just doesn't have, like weigh-in-motion and truck tire anomaly sensing.
