In passing I noticed a mention on bnn

Stephen takacsy ( I checked spelling) was on BNN today. I have a great deal of respect for Stephen even though his track record and timing have not been perfect. He does ferret out interesting investment ideas that nobody else is talking about. He gave Qtrh a very positive comment and an upside target of 2x,3x, maybe even 4x.  Good enough for me to do my own DD. This reminds me of way back in the day, Descartes. They had very interesting technology but not a lot of revenue and some shady promoters when it came public. New team, adapted, pivoted, beyond basic logistics solutions and boom! $100, 20 year overnight success that nobody has heard of. Sound familiar? Nor the boom part. Yet. They need to stay focused on their technology and not try and pursue every vertical simultaneously, while not mastering any one niche. That's the downfall of too many little tech stories. Good luck to all.

Yes...Descartes.  I had it years ago.  Held for about a year and it did nothing.  Sold...bad decision.  QTRH is different Maxmoe in that it appears to have the technology/products and peeps to secure revenue, but the issue is margins/profitability once the business is in hand, specifically on the ETC platform side.  I really like the recent BoD additions (Rusty Lewis and ...more

I did the same thing with Descartes Cabbie - whoops! For Quarterhill, the following quote on the Q1 earnings release keeps bugging me (in a good way): Ultimately, as stated on our year-end conference call, we believe that 2023 will see positive Adjusted EBITDA for the ITS business, inclusive of corporate segment costs." Cabbie, in your mind, did they mean for ALL of 2023 ...more

Hmmm. I noticed all his mentions today had a pop including Qtrh. The more obscure and illiquid they are, the wiser it may be to wait a week and see if the "Stephen effect" wears off. One thing for sure with him, if he DOESNT recommend at least "it's okay to hold it" ,that's a big red flag. I think he listened to my mother as a child. If you don't have anything nice ...more

Maxmoe, QTRH is not illiquid.

Maxmoe please don't remind me of Descartes. I had a nice position in that years ago and like Quarterhill did nothing for years. Finally recouped my investment when it hit $9 and sold ,  the rest as they say is history. My biggest mistake (so far).

See some mentioning logistics co Descartes. People are getting old here. After the .com crash their was plenty to choose from, GIB, DSG, JDU, NT, RIM and more. I bought 4000 DSG at 2.03 and slowly sold over the years including 200 just a month or so ago at 104. Still hold 800 at this point. My biggest 20 year winner by far for sure. QTRH, well we will see.
