03:55 PM EDT, 10/29/2021 (MT Newswires) -- In a detailed affidavit filed with the B.C. Supreme Court on Friday, Loretta Rogers used her deceased husband's own words to decry the behaviour of their son amid the power struggle at Rogers Communications Inc. (RCI-A,TO, RCI-B.TO, RCI), BNN Bloomberg is reporting Friday. "It brings me no joy to swear this affidavit," Mrs. Rogers said. "But I feel compelled to do so in light of Edward's conduct."

BNN noted her words are landing just a few days before the B.C. Supreme Court is scheduled to hear arguments after Edward Rogers petitioned to have his hand-picked board of directors validated as the rightful governance body overseeing the company. The dispute stems from Mr. Rogers' attempt to oust Rogers' chief executive officer, Joe Natale, last month after arguing RCI was underperforming its peers under his leadership.

In her affidavit, Mrs. Rogers expressed disappointment that a family feud has burst into the mainstream, particularly so because she accuses Mr. Rogers of undermining the wishes of his father, Ted Rogers, who founded what is now Canada's largest wireless telecommunications operator. She referred to The Memorandum of Wishes that Ted Rogers communicated to the trustees and advisory committee of the Control Trust that holds almost all of the voting power at Rogers.

The legal team for Mrs. Rogers is quite famous.  I think that she will win.  As a result, I expect the SP to drop to retest the recent lows. GLTA.

Please explain.  I would believe they have represented the family a great while.

I think Edward will get his way, he has controlling rights as the majority share holder. Good legal team or not, the law is the law.

" the law is the law... "  What ?  Can you please explain, in detail, what the law is and each side's interpretation of the law? The dispute and the application of the BCCA (including section 180) to the facts, including the company's By Laws, seems a bit more involved than you have determined.

In Detail ??? Lol......There is no need to go into detail. It is very simple Edward Rogers is chair of the family trust which owns 97% of the VOTING shares.....The family can drag it out if they like but at the end of the day Edward will get his way.....Case Closed !!  Personally I really dont care either way, I am just trading this and making $$$ with the current family nonsense and will be ...more

I hope it is considered quickly and is clear BUT.. Trust law has much to do with the wishes of he who created the trust so if insufficent consultation is determined  and other wishes seen as not respected then Edward's claim could be denied or at least it could be demanded he go through further processes to gain his way. Only after Trust law is reflected on does it move to corporation ...more
