What americans cant imagine or understand is that canada is based on protectionism and socialism.

fundamentals: rona has weak margin and weak inventory management system. they should accept the bid but will not so  The CDP will try to buy all shares to block the BID and Rona is rejecting the deal and asking more time dummies.

Rona can only goes up from now.

So who is the sucker ?  You sound like an employee.  I have a hard time believing that CDP would buy ALL the shares of Rona to prevent a US takeover.  One thing seems certain to me - if a company's stock went from $25 in 2008 down to below $9 ( a loss of 67% roughly ) with the same management team - you can expect changes or unhappy shareholders.  Lowe's will probably ...more

Right on Fence.  Lowes is getting battered by Home Depot and needs growth.  Canada is the easiest expansion route but with Rona in the picture, Lowes starts out as number 3 and the market supports 2 better than 3.  Lowes didn't start this process without thinking it through and committing themselves.  After the Quebec election it will be less in the public eye and by ...more

Yes, good comments on market share.  No one wants to be #3 and it is unlikely they will topple Home Depot.
