Indonesia Nickel for EV’s
With the new announcement, of using nickel matte for EV batteries, what does the Indonesian government think of this??? They want to be the EV battery hub of the world and do it ethically. They have already said that they are to stop the practice of deep sea tailings (has caused re-engineering of two projects that I know of), promote future coal gasification for power and steam generation, to reduce air pollution. Then to potential to grant permission to turn NPI to matte which is highly energy intensive, and produce mass air pollution (If using traditional technology). With world of EV manufacturing has eyes on this country, they might want to get a grip on this. Their dreams may be shattered, from the point of creating a green EV in the worlds eyes. Who knows maybe Indonesia will tell Tsingshan that they can’t use that practice and they end up buying a lot of class 1 nickel fulfill their new contract. Time will tell.
