Caveat emptor...is it too good to be true? What's the reality look like? What doesn't add up? Why does the expected result not reflect to story? Who said "I am not a crook" ....Nixon.
FYI - Pump-and-dump is a manipulative scheme that attempts to boost the price of a stock or security through fake recommendations. These recommendations are based on false, misleading, or greatly exaggerated statements. The perpetrators of a pump-and-dump scheme already have an established position in the company's stock and will sell their positions after the hype has led to a higher share price.
This practice is illegal based on securities law and can lead to heavy fines. The advent of social media etc. has led to greater opportunities to conduct these types of crimes.
Pump-and-dump schemes usually target micro- and small-cap stocks.
False or misleading information about a company’s stock price may be spread through sources including platforms like social media, investment research websites, investment newsletters, online advertisements, email, Internet chat rooms, direct mail, newspapers, magazines, and radio. Micro and Small-cap stocks are particularly vulnerable to pump-and-dump schemes.
Is Sherritt a target of pumpers and dumpers? Let us know on this board please.
