Au and Ag samples in the latest NR

The CEO is also seemingly going ahead with his plan to drill for gold at El Creston. Many mentions of gold in the NR, with promising sample assays in not only gold but silver.

Although just noticed @fasttrack thinks that SAM will still try to sell El Creston while molybdenum is up to get a more "accretive" property for San Martin--am happy either way.

I read the post from fasttrack, i am not agreeing with him, in my opinion it would be very stupid to sell El Creston, he suggests ''to profit from high moly prices is now''. Moly is going alot higher, i would never sell El Creston, multimillion ounce gold potential significant silver not to speak about the copper. The potential of El Creston is significant, any price you would get ...more

As a silverbug I was happy to see those El Creston silver samples of up to 250 g/t. I always like having an Ag component in a junior. And we already have Ag at San Martin.

So definitely agree that it would be exciting to see the potential of El Creston actually developed. Whoever paid $200m for it must have had a good reason for doing so.

Correct me if I'm wrong but a quick google search says that on average you need a minimum of 5g of gold per ton of rock to be economically viable. None of the drill holes in the Starcore press release meets that threshold. A similar search indicates that you need at least 200g of silver per ton to be economically viable and only three of the dril holes just barely meet that threshold. The ...more

From:  https://stockhead.com.au/resources/when-it-comes-to-gold-deposits-grade-is-not-king/ In the June quarter this year, Evolution Mining’s (ASX:EVN) share of the Ernest Henry operations was the lowest cost producer, reporting an AISC of $-644/oz followed by Newcrest Mining’s (ASX:NCM) Cadia Valley operations with an AISC of $174/oz.   Both these operations boast average ...more

Thanks for your post gpwild. First of all bear in mind that the assays (I believe) are from preliminary sampling, not drilling. But yes, the silver is simply a good bonus for me, that's why I call it a "component." The silver (along with the gold) merely gives El Creston a more interesting aspect to it besides being a simple molybdenum deposit. I am not suggesting that El Creston ...more

I was looking at numbers for a primary silver or gold mine because in the past Starcore has floated the idea of selling off the moly portion at El Creston and keeping the precious metals. Not sure what that scenario would look like...but if it means setting up a primary silver/gold mine on the property those initial drll results don't point to that as being a viable option. Like the two ...more

Nothing to worry about the CFO that sold shares in my opinion, maybe he sees a lower price range for gold and silver in the coming months, i don't know what drove him to sell but we are currently trading massive percentages below bookvalue. Everybody is talking about El Creston but we also must not forget that we also have the Ajax Molybdenum project which consists of over 600 million pounds ...more
