Open Mining in a Major Waterway?

Recall not only a ban on open pit mining, but something about open pit mining within or in a major waterway.  Is this correct?

Not saying it would be fair for the government to single-out, but mining Kingkings mineral resource requires diverting the river and then providing a permanent diversion upon mine closure.  A least based on projected mineable resources from last review.

Again, without a completed compliant feasibility study identifying mine design regarding the river, operational and post-mining river management, costs and modeled water quality changes (hydrogeochemical analysis) this should be of regulator inquiry.  The environmental documents prepared to date appear to be inconclusive.  Any information is appreciated.

Hi Realitycheck, the issue is most likely tackled in their environmental impact assessment (EIA). And in their application for their Environmental Compliance Certificate. They already have their ECC. Am sure that the diversion of the river was studied and deemed acceptable by DENR.  Unfortunately there are no other details regarding this and is not a public document it seems.

Exactly. Lol but somebody here wants to say "don't rely on the DENR"... come on mate, try harder. No one can deny this stock can go down to 2-5c, if it is not allowed to use open pit mining. Phils is a risky place to do business, which is why this is trading like a dog stock. If you want assymetric bets, the risks are huge but so are the potential gains. You want something less ...more

The lack of experienced regulators enforcing their own laws lead to the ban.  Mate.
