This is a repost on Snowfield/KSM. I think Pretium would not have sold at $3/oz. unless they felt strongly that the development and NSR money would be coming in within a reasonable time frame. Just pointing out that Pretium with its new CEO might be the more aggressive mover in the area as it looks to expand beyond VOK. Here's the post:
I can see a JV between Seabridge and Pretium which would add Snowfield reserves to KSM. Snowfield would then be developed jointly with Seabridge operating, and using the existing infrastructure plans and approvals that Seabridge has already obtained. (Yes, there would need to be some plan modifications to handle the additional mining, but that needs to happen due to good results at IronCap anyway). Pretium could sit back and watch Snowfield develop at low risk, since it is lower grade and I agree probably low priority.
The JV could result in more momentum for Pretium to move forward in other areas that might be higher grade. With a market cap of nearly $2 billion already, a stock price boost would make it less expensive for them to acquire additional promising assets or explore more aggressively.
