Wow, NLMoose is on fire today!!

Moose, I will break my decision not to respond to your posts just to tell you that "Stog'er Tight" is not "that valuable" at current gold price and mine life. It's a good decision IMO not to risk like they did for Argyle.

As a result of Signal Gold's decision not to proceed with Stog'er TIght, Signal Gold's important source of revenue will be gone as the entire Point Rousse operation will wind down, and shareholders will also suffer as the company profits will start going down dramatically. Not even their Tilt Cove operations will make up the difference. Keep in mind that Goldboro will not produce ...more

Yep Moose... if there is no M&A deal before spring, then yes SGNL will become a pure development company like MOZ for example. Who knows, perhaps it will allow us to get our re-rate now that we can really be compared to MOZ? Is this such bad news to not engage in a risky mine at Stog'er Tight or spend money in exploring Tilt Cove? It's better to keep our money to develop/explore the ...more

Agreed...risk is gone and an great asset is still sitting in NFLD if Maritime is interested in a shorter travel distance to a larger more well maintained operational mill.  The mill and tailing facilities are a valuable/attractive asset...let's see if any deals come out of that post Argyle mining. Yes we all feel for the employeees...I know that well, tis not easy for sure...pack up and ...more

It will also have serious negative consequences for the Baie Verte Peninsula region as they already lost a lot of people as a result of the cod moratorium as asbestos mine closure. Goldboro is not a sure guarantee either as the Nova Scotia Government are known for imposing too much red tape, and if their courts stop it, Signal Gold is screwed.

Why not spinoff the mine into a new company and merge with MAE. Both parties win and we could get some revenue for Goldboro. There must be some workaround (out of the box thinking) that they could come up with. What if there was a quick doubling of the gold price---would this not change the picture?

Yep, that is a possibility. Also, the mill and properties could be sold for a royalty. Discussions will happen regarding Baie Verte future for sure.
