There's no way that they will close it. To many jobs lost at this time. It will be back in court and stay open until the new tunnel is completed. Jmho

Further to that, the state of Michigan does not have juristician, it can make all kinds of noise, but that belongs to the US Federal government.  As an aside, the line also provides oil to Ohio, Pennsylvania and of course Michigan.  Agree with Sheshe, there will be oil flowing well into the future.

Comment pretty much sums up the problem with internet commentary.  Mr. Knowsabsolutelynothing thinks his opinion is worth hearing, for some reason.  Ignorance is bliss, I guess.

Line 5 is three times thcker steel wall than a standard oil pipeline and wrapped in a resin casing.  One of the reasons for building Line 5 was to help protect the Great Lakes and reduce oil tanker, rail tank traffic in the region.  The stupidity of greentards is amazing.   They live comfortable lives and rage against the building blocks of their comfortable lives.  Eco ...more

If Michigan cuts off Line 5, Ontario should cut off the Welland Canal to U.S. ships. They could always sail their ships over Niagara Falls I suppose :) Port Colborne, you got the power!!

They will just do a re-route thru the Erie Canal , to the Hudson River and into the Atlantic shore-city of New York...   Easy !
Comment by ariesleaf on May 11, 2021 12:57pm
That would be a new route which would never be aloud.

Erie Canal has been in use for 2 centuries... and still in use today.... Canada is F%@?ked!
Comment by radcat on May 11, 2021 1:38pm
Ahem. The Welland canal is 44 kms. in length, has 8 locks, and takes 11 hours on average to go through. Erie Canal was built primarily for barges, is 584 kms. long, with 36 locks. How long do you think it would take to travel 584 kms through 36 bright boy? And you are only at the Hudson River. Still have to get to St Lawrence Seaway which is primarily in CANADA! It is America that is F%@?ked ...more
