Once the hedges come off, will be a winner in 2022 as long as strong oil prices remain strong. (Meg energy has zero hedges and has been ripping). Hope that's Sgy in 2022! Gltal.

He also mentioned that the PE players are an overhang...with the PE players being there this is easy fodder for short sellers and pairs traders.

Tanman1914, Yours and other posts lately have been stating that Guru Eric is now bullish on SGY. I'm skeptical of this. Please provide a link or the source of Nuttall's comments. From what I see, his Dec 2 rating of SGY on BNN ("DON'T BUY"), has not changed. And I'd be gobsmackeded if his opinion of SGY ever changed. https://stockchase.com/company/view/3780/SGY-T GLTA all ...more

On BNN today he called SGY undervalued but he is still not a buyer. I don't think Eric will ever be a buyer of Sgy, he is prejudiced against the company for some reason.

Eric Nuttal is one of the few energy analysts left in Canada. He has never liked Surge Energy for the last 10 years I have followed him. IDK why but I think since he was a big investor in their competitor Torc Oil and Gas or maybe Paul Colbourne has never wanted to listen to his advice since he has more experience which why he maybe he is biased. Eric likes to tell the CEO's what to do and I ...more

Dude...you have no clue what you are talking about...the two major PE funds are Annapolis Capital from one of the recent deals and they are selling...they are under 10% now and as such no need to report public sales...second is JOG which is a shareholder from an old deal...they have it in a fund which I think is starting to age and will be wound down at some point...hence the overhang on the stock ...more

I do agree that Surge could be more vocal with their plans. Lay out a company strategy. It would be nice. Being that there are grants or ones need to buy on the open market doesn't make a difference. Company grants make the employees work for the betterment of the company. How can you say with certainty that JOG and Annapolis are selling Surge? I do believe tax loss selling is ...more

There is a big difference between grant and buying in the open market...buying in the open market is after tax real dollars....grants are just that...management pays nothing for them.. I did not say JOG is selling...the Surge investment is in a JOG PE fund...funds have limited lives...usually 10 to 12 years...they were in a predecessor entity so I am doing the math and the fund is probably close ...more

Interesting!! Thanks for the insight.  Wouldn't it make sense that some bank or other institutional investor would make a deal to purchase these shares now that hedges are rolling off? Much like Eric did with Ath in buying Equinors stake? I can't see Nuttal considering it but maybe he is looking to try to get it with his fund?
