Nuttall January 28th

Nuttall's back on BNN on Jan 28th. Do you think he'll have anything good to say about SGY this time?? I'll bet he's been buying.

One thing Nuttal like is a company buying back stock.  Lets hope oil prices allow SGY to make a sizeable buyback program.  Management owns a lot of the stock so they might want dividends though.

Hmmm we discussed buy backs a couple of weeks ago and it doesn't make sense for SGY. We had a 8.5-1 consolidation and then the price plummetted from there. The consolidation means we don't have the need to have a buy back as there are much fewer shares out there than preconsolidatoin SGY which was dilutted to buy properties and other oil cos... What we need now is for the price to go up ...more

Fortune, basing a buyback on where a split was done or a yearly high was made is not how that decision should be made. The only price that needs to be looked at is price of stock versus book value. There are better things they should be able to do with their money, with potential for building a better company. Like paying down debt or buying assets at distressed levels from competitors. If oil ...more

Buybacks don't make sense unless stock is trading below book value. Immediate return on capital then. Paying down debt to sensible levels is smartest thing to do when above book. Then dividends if you want to give back to shareholders. Buybacks for the sake of buybacks is ridiculous and usually done by boards trying to get bonuses based on EPS while actual income is stagnant. After adding SGY to his Twitter graphs, I'm sure he's been buying big time. https://twitter.com/ericnuttall/status/1485623098539974665/photo/1
