This is Real Life Demo of Trying to Catch a Falling Knife

Why would anyone be trying to buy this stock until they were certain it has bottomed, shows a defined up trend and there is certainty it actually has a future. I know it is hard to time bottoms, but when the stock chart is nothing but straight down, doesn't seem too smart to be buying until after the inflection point. Good points... While over the years I would describe myself as an investor that bases decisions on fundamentals, I do look at technical indicators to see what they say in regard to the fundamentals.  In the case of SHOP, from a technical point of view there is really nothing supporting the price until it hits somewhere around $415 a share and even then this support level is 3 years old and ...more

The earnings report sped the drop and now the CEO taking pot shots at analysts, who almost unversally rate this a buy or strong buy still, is really coming off bad. I have no use for analysts, I think this stock is a sell and has been for a long time, but it was managment that screwed up the results, not the analysts.
