The FED doesn't "fold". The FED calls the shots re. interest rates and makes its decisions. Sure, rates may eventually fall, but in the meantime, that old saying still applies: "Don't fight the FED". Those who were long on bonds since the beginning of 2023 have got whacked along with those who stayed invested in small cap companies with too much debt and not enough cash ...more

When the banks start failing, things start breaking, unemployment starts soaring, GDP plunges etc the FED WILL FOLD.  They always have and always will.  Ever hear the expression "inflate or die"?  They MUST perpetually increase money supply so that all those TRILLIONS in debt can be serviced. Weren't a lot of people predicting Aremageddon for the US big banks and economy in general in the midst of the financial crisis of 2007-09 when they were genuinely in trouble...? In that instance, the Bush Administration provided assistance to the big banks (too big to fail in action), the crisis passed, and US stocks rallied big-time after it was over. The big banks don't have to fail if all the regionals do.  And don't forget the hundreds of trillions in derivatives, record commercial real estate collapse, consumer credit at records, gov debt at records, and all the other nations of the world which are in worse shape.  China, Europe, Latin America are a wreck. 2 wars. That 30yr auction was as close to a failed one as you get.  That tells you all you need to know about the "end game" being upon us. Powell kicked it all in the nuts too with more hawkish blater.  There's no way the US gets out from under all this debt now....soon all "faith" will be lost and gold is going to go nuts
