Security Screen

Smart to shift to airplane transport. Unless rebels have SAMs the stand-off distance from airstrip would make for a difficult shot using RPG. Long road to mine, difficult to provide security along its length. More feasible with a caravan but maybe the road will no longer be used.
Downing an airplane would make it easier to obtain support from international force.

Just thoughts.

Please look at the link of the Africa Terrorism Map which identifies groups and territories: Africa Terrorism Map Boungou is right on the border with Niger, in the middle of the blue dot cluster. Burkina Faso is in the top 3 hot spots and is a boatride downriver from Mali.
