Ex-Div

So with settlement dates included we are now effectively ex-div. We seem to be holding strong despite that and the doom and gloom news!

Rob, ex-div is tomorrow the 17th meaning current owners of the stock need to hold through today to get the 19¢ distribution but can sell tomorrow and still get it. I am holding regardless, we manged through shutdowns and no vaccines so not going to sell now with +80% vaccinations and clearly a weaker varriant which means covid is ending with herd immunity likely to kick in next year.

You are correct. The ex-div date is tomorrow. So whomever holds the stock tomorrow at close receives the dividend.  If I sell today to you, those shares do not settle for 2 business days. So even though you have executed the trade, you have not paid for or received my shares. Therefore I receive the dividend on the distribution date.  I strongly suggest that anyone who doesn't ...more
