Is Suncor trying to be something it is not...

And they are not "green".Be who,or what you are,and Suncor is spending cash in redefining themselves. However, they hold billions of barrel's of recoverable oil.Maybe they should deplete reserves in the next twenty five years or so,give these profits back to shareholders.By 2050 goverments want to see green. If i wanted to invest in green,i would invest in a green company,Suncor is not this company.Who knows?,maybe green wont work out as good as predicted,if not, will Suncor still has oil,"win, win.BOTTOM LINE?------Give me great returns for investing in a risky oil company.Give me oil,not windmills, let others build those.Come on Suncor your an oilsands producer,be an oilsands producer!!!

Perhaps they will change the name of the company to Greencor now?

Suncor will spend all its future income, and more, trying to establish itself as a green energy wanabee.Nothing wrong with windfarms and hydrogen, but Suncor already has its cash source..oil.Play the hand your dealt, and keep that strategy and stick to it. Suncor may do ok with transitioning but WHY????We are sitting on billions of barrels of a commodity that will still be sought after for decades to ...more

Could not agree more. Let the new windmill farms and solar panel farms work their way into the world market and pay for themselves by making themselves a viable entity in energy. Why should SU help pay for the so called green energy. Let green energy figure out how to make the thousands of things that are made from oil and and gas now.  For now like the next 50 years because that is how long ...more

i agree 100 per cent plus 50.Suncor is cutting its own throat by spending millions in renewables.I invested in Suncor because they told me they could recover oil at a good cost. Will oil prices are high and i want my due rewards. If i want green,i would invest in green.Trudeau liberals have smacked down oil producers in many ways,Quebec wont allow pipelines, and we as Suncor investors are supposed to ...more

Suncor has absolutely no business reason to be in renewables, they have neither the technology or expertise `for wind turbines, solar panels etc. They could perhaps be marginally involved in CCS or blue hydrogen manufacture. Their best strategy is to stick to the knitting, increase efficiency and hest recovery, clean up methane leaks etc. Going where no sane man has gone before, may be good for ...more

Warning to eco coercers. Two can play that game. Investors puling out of the seven spinsters will only speed up the havoc you are wreaking. The consequences will be inevitable and very unpleasant. If you want change, come up with a plan that actually is workable. So far all that I have seen is sloganeering. TRIX are for kids. So are your methods !!

Its the same situation with line 5 oldnagger , to shut down that pipeline would be economically damaging yet irresponsible politicians toy with the idea to secure that psyco/eco vote . This misguided urge for ending petroleum will unleash a chaotic shitstorm not unlike the 1920's prohibition order . By weakening NA energy players you strengthen foreign oil and enrich dictators and despots ...more

suncor has been the recipient of extreme largesse provided by Canadian Taxpayers via PetroCanada. Gulf oil, Pacific Petroleum, Petrofina, BP etc. Not to forget the East coast assets acquired from others by the Canadian Government .To not further develop the Upstream resources is pathetic and in my opinion exposes the treacherous and nefarious aspects of the Trudeaus and their panty waist followers ...more

SU management is doing the right thing to make sure their company can survive in the future. It just hurts investors portfolios who are really only demanding for near-term handsome returns. Oil companies will have to cut down their carbon emissions, the governments will make law to ensure they make it happen. https://amp.theguardian.com/environment/2021/may/27/cataclysmic-day-for-oil-companies ...more

There are other companies like CNQ that can manage both investor returns and the positioning for the future, without sacrificing one or the other. OVV, BTE, CNQ, there are plenty such examples. As much as I agree that div reinstatement isn't necessary right now, I am growing more partial to the idea when I see mgmt decisions resulting in nothing but people dumping the stock. One can defend SU ...more
