really !

Its funny how things change when the Americans can make more money of the Candians that a pipe line can be in the spot light again ! U.S. SEN JOE MANCHIN who was in Alberta this week & discussed it with KENNY & why . ( we are going to produce the energy that the world needs ) ( a read in the globe & mail ) my take on this is ship the oil south - refine it  -  put it in tankers & ship it to Europe in U.S. DOLLAR$$$$$$$ . This oil should be processed in CANADA  with all the money & taxes staying here , but as we are aware we have a HAVE NOT province  called QUEERBACK &  liberal retards running the country so no pipelines going east .

i trust amercins more so than quebecers.  An oil pipeline through quebec is risky business, quebec can blackmail the west in the future using the pipeline as leverage. Just look at oil and gas pipelines through Ukraie. Ukriane steal russian gas and hosed russia on pipeline fees.  That's why russian built the Nordstorm 1 and 2.  2009: Ukraine accused of stealing Russian ...more

Quebec had a chance to develop an LNG export facility that would have sourced natgas from western Canada, but unfortunately it got shot down by the provincial and federal governments. Premier Legualt was actually for it but recognized that the opposition to it by indigenous groups and enviromentalists (as well as some locals) was going to make it virtually impossible to succeed. it's possible  ...more

I wonder if Alberta could introduce legislation to sanction Quebec from using fossil fuels. https://www.theenergymix.com/2022/04/13/quebec-becomes-worlds-first-jurisdiction-to-ban-oil-and-gas-exploration/

Here is the real reason why, it's all about milking free equalization money from other provines. It is not about environment or indigenous.  If quebec brings in new revenue from natural resouce development, then quebec is no longer an have not province. It is why quebec can have a budget surplus from free money taken from the western provinces.  Equalization payments are a hot ...more

mrbb I have not researched the equalization payments methodology (nor do I have the desire to do so), but I suspect it is quite complex, and picking out a single factor like is done in that article you quoted surely does not reflect the full picture. For example, using the simulator in the linke below. if I set Quebec's Resource Rev. Inclusion Rate to 100% and increase its electricity prices ...more

mrbb Wexit? Good luck with that. If Quebec couldn't manage to separate under the influence of a charismatic and popular leader of 'le peuple' like Rene Levesque, the chances of Wexit happening with the likes of AB Premier Kenney are nil.
Comment by mrbb on Apr 16, 2022 5:58pm
the point was it's not about quebec got there their separation or not, the point was quebec got WHAT THEY WANTED just their threat of separation, and by going through the motion of holding a referendum on separation. You have to understand canada is really comprised of upper and lower canada, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick. The other provinces and territories are just later add on.  & ...more

No such thing!! Just ask the Cree about mercury poisoning from eating fish caused the James Bay hydro dams or the 10,000 caribou that died of mercury poisoning. Sad that the eco zealots don't mention these things!!!

I ain't no eco zealot. By clean I was referring to CO2 emissions. I am well aware of the (temporary) mercury release related to flooding of land during dam construction.
