Pipeline sabotage

Done by Russia. No loss to Russia because no gas flowing now or possibly ever through those pipes. This was an implicit threat by Russia relating to all the vulnerable pipelines bringing gas into Europe. Designed to spread fear and uncertainty.........
Comment by GingerEnergy111 on Sep 28, 2022 3:36pm
I don't buy that arguement. Why destroy your own pipeline?  If it's not already delivering gas, and the aerial footage shows otherwise - a gas leak....then just don't start it up. Nope, Sorry.....There are others who have been surviving quite well at the fear and uncertainty game.
Comment by NewfNewf on Sep 28, 2022 5:39pm
Its silly to think Russia destroyed billions of dollars on infrastruture when they can simple turn the gas off. Probably done by the USA as they are the ones benefiting the most with thier LNG shipments to europe and was doing eveything in their power to sabotage gas from being shipped to Germany through Nord Strean 2.
Comment by meritmat on Sep 28, 2022 7:27pm
Why not China?   Then they can buy all that spare gas for pennys on the dollar
Comment by mrbb on Sep 28, 2022 9:46pm
china is now too busy with bank runs, real estate collapse, food shortage, zero covid lockdown protest, mass capital and human exit (if they can), and maybe a coup.  Nah, china isn't that brave to meddle with russia or nato affair when china can't gather enough nerve to invade taiwan.
Comment by Experienced on Sep 29, 2022 4:17am
Agreed mrbb..... China really has little to gain from a sabotage of the pipeline and lots to lose if they actually did it.  They have already sealed a deal with Putin to build natural gas pipelines from Russia to China and I suspect there will be more in the future so they already have the situation in hand. Plus Xi wants to get re-elected for a third term and wouldn't want anything to ...more

The U.S. mid-term elections are a month or so from now, and are usually largely decided on pocketbook issues, such as the price of gassing up your ride. President Biden and the Democrats have no interest in rocking the energy boat at this time. They would love to have the price of oil and gas drift downward until the election, even helping the trend by releasing from the SPR. Keeping all the NATO ...more

They (US) won't be found to be the ones who did it. Doesn't make sense for either side to claim responsibility, that's for sure; nor does it make sense that either would, as you point out.  Which makes it the perfect crime by a group with a big agenda.   Almost like trying to nail down the real origins of CV-19.  Fingers pointing in so many directions that no one ...more

Over the years, I have spent considerable time in the US especially in the years since I retired.  From this experience, I have learned a lot about US election mentality from the close friendships I have developed. 1….…. a large number of people will vote Republican or Democratic no matter what 2.....even more importantly....about 45% of the people in the US don't pay income tax and ...more

They have a big network of people that can make anything happen.   That is what makes them dangerous.
Comment by mrbb on Sep 28, 2022 9:41pm
it would be much easier for putin to turn off gas supply to EU by just shutting off a flow valve, you know, like how you open and close your faucet. Flow valve is genius gadget included in most major pipelines.

This is the way. One by one, failures / maintenance / etc. that closes things in.   Fear, intimidation, loss of hope.  In the depths of winter, when capitulation starts to come to mind, well it's going to take some work and time to put things back together again.  Not our fault mind you, you never signed a long term contract with us, so how were we to know that you were ...more

Maybe "bombing the new baltic gas pipeline" was his plan all along, but his mercenaries got the wrong one?

like how US mistaken saddam hussein had weapon of mass destruction and invaded iraq? or made us believe bin laden collapsed the twin towers (and building 7) and chase him all the way to invade afghanistan? You are watching too much TV.

Calm down, it was meant to be a facetious comment, along the lines of how pathetically Russia is executing their invasion.

I supplied the article to provide context to the subject. I'd never heard of it before as I don't subscribe to nonsense. Critical thinking is all you need to see your way through these distractions.

Are you suggesting Bin Laden was not responsible for 9/11? That would be new to me.
Comment by GingerEnergy111 on Oct 03, 2022 9:23am
Surely you jest.  I have actually seen a very convincing documentary outlining how the building was bombed from within, not by jets.  The wreckage on the ground was too small.  The dust that went for miles was more telling. I would have to dig to find it again.  But it suggests CIA may have been the culprit.
Comment by newcoin on Oct 03, 2022 10:04am
This is just bizaar conspiracy theory nonsense. Is the theory that the jets that slammed into the Trade Towers were not the reason they collapsed? Crazy. And I suppose we never landed men on the moon in 1969. It was all filmed in a sound studio in California. We should not take up board space with such discussions. I'm just amazed what people think.
