What's up with that' as every oil company announces record and special divys suncor can't even declare their base divy.

Begs the question, why is the dividend not announced concurrent with the earnings like every other oil and gas outfit? The way Suncor does it is more expensive.

This is a good question. Why wouldn't Suncor act in the same manner as other companies?  What is the advantage in doing this? We can certainly see why the market tends to be skeptical of SU management practices.

I figure Suncor is about 90% of the profitability of CNQ; CNQ has fewer shares so my guess is it works out that SU share price and divi should be 77% of CNQ ie The divi could be increased to 65 cents (from 47) which would be in line with CNQ (excluding CNQ's $1.50 special last quarter).  Shares are obviously undervalued as well given Suncor's profitability. Not sure the proftiability ...more
