Jordan Peterson talks about the bottom 3%
I have not been posting here lately. I'm not sure how much value I can add to a discussion about an oil company these days when I don't have a dog in the fight.
I still visit this thread to learn from some of the best posters on Stockhouse. It amazes me how cross-linked a quality discussion about oil can relate to other industries or fiscal and monetary policy, and finally to politics.
Notice that I used the word QUALITY discussion. I have noticed that the quality on this forum is drifting. I hope the troubling trend towards the bottom 3% can be extinguished before it gains traction.
To that end, I have posted the following link below to one of several vloggers that I follow. Why do I follow QUALITY vloggers instead of following the news? For the same reason that I follow this QUALITY thread. To be blunt, I simply don't trust the mainstream media anymore. I'm not a conspiracy theorist in any way, but the entire concept of the mainstream media actually reporting on anything has fallen off a cliff. To me, the concept of reporting infers researching and fact checking and those virtues simply don't exist anymore. The media today is basically just reads scripts created by those with an agenda. There is no fact checking or verification of what is being broadcasted or printed.
The following link is from Steven Mark Ryan. SMR is brilliant Aussie who is about as far away from the mainstream as possible. He is crude and vulgar and usually right.
In the video, SMR features a clip of Piers Morgan interviewing Jordan Peterson about how Peterson believes that Elon Musk can "fix" Twitter.
For those that don't know Peterson, he is an Alberta born scholar (Harvard trained) who lives in the GTA and resigned from a tenured postion at the U of T earlier this year. Peterson has quikly progressed from the local scene to a world wide platform this year. He is controversial and is also usually right.
In the video, Peterson talks about the bottom sucking 3% of the population that ends up dominating public thinking by means of being louder for longer. The outcome of such domination by psychopaths etc is that the public has a tendency to end up believing the nonsense of the few.
I don't know how many of you will make it through the 30 minute video and I can't blame you if you don't. I hope you will watch the first couple of minutes at least and take it from there.
