Steep discounts on trucks are coming!

I posted awhile ago about how legacy ICE vehicles are being sold in China at 40% to 50% discounts ahead of the July 1st, 2023 law change for tail pipe emissions.

One of the posters here indicated that he would buy 2 new trucks if the price dropped 20%.  This post is for you and anyone else that is considering buying a new ICE vehicle

I should have stated that the vlogger's discussion about trucks starts at the 7 minute mark.   The dealer inventory in March of Ford F150's was 59 days.  Today, the inventory has jumped to 84 days.  However, Ford is channel stuffing so apparently the real number is over 100 days.  That is a massive jump in a month.  What is going to happen in the coming ...more

try find a decent used ICE car at pre covid price, good luck. I haven't seen so many junk cars for sale in autotrader ever before. Cars that are not road worthy, have engine/transmission issues or warning it's not registerable, rebuilt from insurance writeoff, for sale.  try to buy a new car, you have to pay a premium plus some wait time. A friend just bought a new Corolla, he had to ...more

Thanks Obscure1. I am so looking forward to those price drops on trucks - immediate delivery will be a bonus - I don't drive much so the discount will pay for most of my gas. My guess it'll last me twice as long as a Tesla would (its been strongly suggested to me if in the market for a Tesla to lease not buy).

ford can afford to give discount to their over priced f150 trucks.  Know a guy who bought a loaded raptor for $120k.  Profit margin from truck sales are what keeping the big 3 alive.  Cybertruck is a niche truck, not really for work or contractors. Also many doesn't like the look of CT

I don't know about discounts on new E trucks in N.A. , but after a few more battery fires , there may be a steep discount on used E trucks  https://www.cnbc.com/2023/04/20/f-150-lightning-fire-footage-growing-ev-risk.html

Get me a EV truck that gets the same range on its battery as I can get on a tank of fuel and I'll look at it.   Also needs to charge in 10 mins

Until EVs come down in price by at least another 30-40%, this is all just fairytales. People are living paycheque to paycheque. Don't push this EV BS on people unless the government starts mandating pricing. Of course if they truly believed it a transition, that's what they would be doing to wxpediate the process. In the mean time, I don't buy any of the garbage being spewed out there.
