Remember, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the “full economic impact of the project will be equal to the value of government investment in less than five years.” But according to the PBO, it will take 20 years, not five years, to merely recover the money the government “invested” on behalf of Canadians. There’s no actual profit to be had at that point.


To me, forecasting beyond 5 years is a mug game. That 20 years payout by PBO still assumed things go according to some plans, nothing does in this time scope. I say the free handouts to the battery plants would never pays out.

mrbb...agreed...the math for the battery plant subsidies makes no sense whether it is one year or five or twenty. As I have posted many times, it is far too early to pick winners and losers in the EV/battery "race" and Governments have a dismal record picking winners.  It is far more lucrative to assume that Governments will screw up and find companies with solutions to the ...more
