NIMBY and Climate Change

Many here have commented about the advantages of using nuclear power to deal with issues related to the need for more electricity power....a topic I agree with with.

Saw an article where the Government wants to build an engineered landfill to house nuclear waste and the locals are totally against it.

What is required IMHO is a government that has some backbone and stands up to this nonesense.

So what we get are silly and costly economic alternatives to change the natural business ecoystem when the solution is in plain sight.

Sadly, a poll driven Government like we have is unlikely to do anything different....or for that matter world-wide

Honestly Boss you can't just blame it on the Libs.  Harper was in power for years and those LNG plants ground to a halt.   There's to much red tape in this country.  It's really really sad. We're one of the wealthiest country's in the world and we continuously shoot ourselves in the foot.    The only reason we're not speaking Chinese, or Russian ...more

you're too kind to the liberal the gov'ts. Yes, there are regular red tapes in both conservative and liberal gov'ts. All things equal, the liberal party passed Bill 48 (tanker moratorium on west coast ONLY. tanker on St Lawerence and east cost are A' OK), and Bill 69 which gave Impact Assessment Agency of Canada and the Canadian Energy Regulator as authorities responsible for ...more
