Trees, Electric Walls and the Future

It is up to AB (and Canada) to diversify it's economy, to see down the road a few decades and develop industries that will be relevant to the world then? That is what companies like Tesla, Nividia and Amazon and countries like Korea, Japan, India and China are doing. The future will belong to those who are visionary and stay ahead of the curve of change. You can see the future now if you try. For starters ask yourself why is the AI company Nividia worth as much (2 Trillion US dollars) as the entire Canadian economy?

wow, you're so smart, why didn't you tell us to invest in magnificient 7 stocks months, years, decades ago? however, you're now pretending to be smart and telling us to divest oil and gas? LOL   This in itself a definition for a hypocrite.  BTW, the mag 7 wouldn't exist without the foundation of oil and gas.  What and how they built the and run the server ...more

yes, synthetic chinese diamonds are made from using coal and fossil fuel power. You do know diamonds are comprised of 100% carbon, something you despise of, right? Nvidia is in a bubble and is going to crash at some point. Take a look at a chart comparison between Nvidia and Cisco during the dotcom era. What you are doing is using recency bias to justify your own personal narrative.  Watch the comparison between Nvidia and Cisco.  https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CHR0Vbskubo

Jay et al... Great discussion re the Magnificent 7.. I guess I look at these things a little differently than others and this is based on seeing things develop over the past 50 plus years that I have been involved in investing.  In past posts, I have mentioned that there are times when there is a transformative change in technology and the economy and investment in this area can be very ...more

Good work Experienced! The question remains, how future-proof is AB, what will the oil industry be like in 10, 30, 50 years. Will there be more EV's or less? Will there be more fires, droughts, polar vortexs and heat domes or less? Maybe AI knows the answers.

Dowaan, recency bias can make you believe Nvidia is the future and will rule the world because of its exposure to ai. How can you argue against the stock market rally? I mean, these investors must know something that the rest of us don't know, right? Well, not so fast.  Here is a recent post I made about the comparison of Nvidia and Cisco.  Nvidia will suffer the same fate as ...more

Torontojay, my posts are not about Nvidia or stock bubbles but rather about climate change and how that is creating new innovations and driving the need for change. Whether the future brings fewer or even more extreme weather events, fires, climate related disasters is the question. Which future would you choose? Think ahead 30 years, what will the oil industry look like? Will Tesla , battery ...more

Climate change is a scam. The elites purposely exaggerate the severity of the environment so they can tax you and then justify their reason for doing it. They can enact policy change, complete totalitarian control, so the rich and powerful can profit from it. I believe in free market capitalism and not government subsidies or policy changes that try to get rid of the competition. This is what the ...more

Yes a scam, supposedly so. It is a comfortable conclusion and convenient way to avoid thinking about what is probably to many a frightening future. Carry on though, I'm glad you are feeling so secure in your beliefs.

remember that the founder and snakehead of global warming (now climate change) is no other than the Manitoba, canadian born Maurice Strong (a companion of the Order of Canada and a member of the Queen's Privy Council for Canada).  He made his riches from oil and gas.  Communist Pierre trudeau appointed comrade maurice strong as the first President of PetroCanada (not CEO as PC wasn ...more

Little known factoid ,Maurice Strong made a pile of money by acquiring cheap jungle land in Costa Rica , then reselling it to the Canadian government at a much higher price. Thus the Liberals learned a lesson they have never forgotten. Climate change can be very profitable for politicians !!

All I can suggest is never sell your F350! Soon you may have to pay a large surcharge for the right to buy a vehicle such as that. I'll sign off for now. I am a 72 year old native Albertan who encourages independent thinking. GLTA, including you SU investors.

liberal insiders have learned from maurice strong, now they up their game to just setting up boiler room consulting company and selling services to government for huge profit without even providing valuable products  IE, ArriveCan,  vaporward covid vaccine MPs to study $300M Liberal government paid to now-shuttered COVID-19 vaccine manufacturer | CBC News

Diversification is always good. Meantime AB is going to be in the oil business for quite some time. Reason why TMX pipeline was built and will be starting up soon. World population 8 billion+ and growing rapidly. Appr 1 billion of those live in developed countries (basically the G7 nations and handfull of others), consuming 44M bbl/day of oil.
