Some Thoughts
Thought I would start a new thread....not necessarily a subject change but at my age it is hard to follow a thread after a while...lol
Government Control
A number of years ago Google proposed a capacity where it would tell you with an 80% confidence level where you were. At the time, the US Govenrment said no to the idea. Since then, I suspect that Google.with its vast database combined with AI, can tell where you are or what you are doing at something in the 90s in terms of probability.
What does this mean?
In simple terms it means that most people have no privacy. In the US, these companies with their vast databases are in bed with the Government. In some sense Governments today have more knowledge and control over your lives than Marx ever envisioned in Mein Kampf.
What is worse is that through COVID, Government have made a big step towards their goal where the rich and powerful control pretty much everything and have destroyed small business and changed (probably forever) then potential for a balanced income distribution.
My objective in this post is not to whine and bleat about this.
The important thing as investors is to recognize this fact and them invest accordingly. Just as Rockafeller said in the early 1900s, If you fight the tape you will lose. So even if you think that what is happening is just plain wrong {eg EVs} (I share your view), don't fight the tape.
As my wise Father said to me a kid - "If you can't do anything about it then don't worry about it. Only worry about things that you can do something about"
So in my case, I look at where things are going, and even if I think it is really wrong and doesn't make sense and invest accordingly cause I can't change where things are going.
So as I have said many times, look where the puck is going, that is where the money is. If you go to where the puck is then you will miss the play and not score the goal.
