Does any one know where my share $$ go?

Big question and not sure if any of you can answer it.  
So I buy some shares in SU and in exchange for a digital acknowledgement in my trading account, someone takes my money - and gives it to SU.  Right? 
 
Is that what actually happens, or is SU drawing on a digital account with a central bank?

To the point - are they actually already using a corporate version of central bank digital currency?

Simple question.  I've been trying to wrap my head around the macro scenario.

Good question Ginger, Your money goes to the person who sold you the shares.  The shares trade on what is called an exchange.  Someone sells you their shares, in exchange for your cash.  You buys those shares from them.  The day you sell your shares, someone just like you will buy them from you and give you cash in exchange. The only time money goes to suncor is during an IPO ...more
