If rich countries, do not do anything to fight emissions

In April, Bangladesh experienced the hottest month, and the most sustained heatwave temperatures, in its history. Last month, a cyclone was one of the quickest-forming and longest-lasting seen, their meteorological department said. Both events were pinned on rising global temperatures. And then there's AB drought and water shortages and power outages, forest fires, extreme heat and rain events. If nothing changes, nothing changes and we're seeing just a glimpse of what the future holds. https://www.channelnewsasia.com/sustainability/sea-swamps-bangladesh-one-worlds-fastest-rates-4410286

Both events were pinned on rising global temperatures I am shocked by this statement. I must live under a rock. Snowbank

Rock, paper or scissors the events are still pinned on rising global temperatures. Offer another plausible explanation if you will Frosty.

Several problems here.  When you state "in history" you need to preface this by exactly the period covered by this history.  You need to realize that temperature records kept are not of any significance on a geologicval scale and hence they are not something we call call a trend of anything.  Things including climate change all the time. To think we somehow should ...more

Changing from the ice age (10,000 BC) to the year 1000 was a climate change. This stuff of Ottawa "fighting climate change" is pre politicd based on junk science. Did they forget how coal and oil were creared?

Sebastian....good post - you forgot one important item in your "rant".....they moved the weather recording stations that they use south and surprise - we got higher temperatures recorded!! I am not a scientist  or an engineer (as my main detractor likes to point out...lol).  That said, and call me fatalist, but as far as I am concerned the problem really boils down to the fact ...more

Exactly, no government wants to say this but yes the driver is the population.  Technlogy will not be a solution for a long time because efficiency gains are too slow.  For example there are twice as many people living now then when I was born.  There is no way to generate 50% of carbon emissions, even if we did we would be exactly where we were in 70's.  But the whole ...more

Sebastian...I am not a conspiracy guy either but that said, I simply look at the data and what is happening around me.  In recent years we have seen a solid march towards Marxism which took a giant step forward with all the Covid rules. The policy towards EVs is another example of Government dictating what people are allowed to do which is marxism plain and simply.  The mantra about ...more

That's if you figure that a few new governments here and in the USA are going to spend billions on something that is inevitable , just like the sun rising or setting.Yes under Trudy , who figures that Canada generating only about 3% of global emissions , and his attempt to bankrupt all Canadians including those lemmings voters for the Liberals.I heard a number pushed around that Silverspoon ...more
