What is your reference material on the second injection in the portal vein?  Nothing in the trial refers to portal vein injection and in fact the study is to prove safety, tolerability and efficacy of the cell pouch for islet transplantation.  Following up with a portal vein injection would make the results meaningless.

Part of their trial premise is to prove superiority of the cell pouch over portal vein injection (economize on islets, survivability, no inflamation).  Question now, why didnt they transplant the additional islets into the pouch and what is the true efficacy of the pouch.  To me they mucked up the trial of the cell pouch as a device, even though they succeeded with a good patient outcome

Oh so I was right?? Now if you read more about your investment, you'll know that fewer islets in the pouch work better. This trial is about finding the ideal dose. The insulin free patient news was a little misleading for those who don't understand the science. Injecting more islets does not = better results. The question remaining to be asked is what were the patients metrics presented

I would suggest that the pre-portal vein top-up results were pretty great. Keeping a brittle diabetic's blood sugar level within a range that excludes hypo/hyperglycemic events is a success. A first-in-world success. Hyperglycemia causes all of the horrible long term side effects of the disease. Hypoglycemia can result in a coma or death and is the reason diabetics often keep their daily blood

Care to explain why it would appear they are getting close to a cure without a top-up? FIrst patient had not one, but 2 top ups. No data is out on any other patients. I'm not quite sure how you think they are getting close....Just a guess? A hunch? A wish? Rock bottom, PP prices (without the warrant). Steppppp right up, stepppp right up!!

The first patient had 2 cell pouch doses and one portal vein top-up. After the second cell pouch dose we saw a ~43% reduction in insulin use! Importantly 0 serve hypoglycemic events. Not to mention the reduction in HbA1C. As you previously mentioned, the pouch seems to work better with less cells. My understanding is islet dosing is being adjusted as the study progresses, hence my belief Sernova
