"Concerning Massawa, any transaction would have to be at the right price and make sense for Teranga's shareholders". To my mind, a 'transaction' can be many things including a sale, an exchange, or even a gift.
Given the highly refractory nature of much of the ore from Massawa, and the requirement of large amounts of electrical power and chemical processes to extract the gold, (there is no cheap electricity available in this part of the world), these factors could be the reason why neither the previous nor current owners have seen fit to risk their money by investing in the development of this project during the last 10 years?
I'm sure Barrick would like someone to buy it from them, and the Government of Senegal which already owns 10% , would love to see it operating and producing taxable earnings, but I can't stop thinking of an old saying about a pig:- "you can put as much lipstick as you like on a pig, but it will still be a pig".

Good to see that TGZ's "business as usual" is progressing smoothly, and lets hope for some encouraging drill results from Golden Hill soon. GLTA

I still think that depsite Young's "Derick Jeter" reponse (i.e., we'll look at Massawa if it comes our way), TGZ and Barrick have had substanitve discussions, and ultimately TGZ will have a material part in Massawa, either as an owner, part owner or JV particpant. I also believe that DM will be involved in some capacity, probably in connection with TGZ's financing - and also ...more

Agree Oska As I've said before the PG crowd should be careful what they wish for.  If they get greedy and bite off more than they can chew - it could sink the battleship. In the meantime we know they are on a healthy pathway to 3 producing mines without Massawa. IF, the right deal comes along, without taking on huge risks or unknowns, then I would l support it.
